UU Hockey would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to William Szollosy for his time with us this season. William made history as the first English national player to represent UU Hockey — a milestone we are incredibly proud of.
We also want to congratulate William on representing the Sheffield Bears and taking part in the biggest university varsity game in Europe, played in front of an incredible crowd of over 8,000 — and winning it!
''This year I've been so fortunate to play with the Uppsala University hockey team. It's been a fantastic experience; everyone has made me feel really welcome and as someone coming from England to play hockey in Sweden - one of the best hockey nations on the planet - it's been such an honour and an education. Playing here has been fun and it has also pushed me to get better. Going back to Sheffield and helping my team there bring home only the second win in 20 years in front of 8500 screaming fans was just amazing. I want to thank all of my teammates at UU hockey for a great season and a year I'll never forget.''
As William returns to the Sheffield Bears for the next season, we wish him all the very best and thank him once again for his contributions to UU Hockey.
